Lots of Pics!!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 by Ryan

As my soon-to-be wife mentioned in her previous post, it’s been a while since our last update. In that time we’ve taken quite a few pictures, and had a few adventures. Below are three galleries from our most recent outings.

Our trip to Stan Hywet with Denali:

Our camping trip to Berlin:

Taking Nali to the Dog Days of Summer at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens:

As always, these images are also available to view at our website, or on our Picasa Web Albums. We’ll probably be adding some commentary to them in the next few days. So check back at those links if you’re curious what the pictures are all about!

Wedding Dresses and Dog Days…

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 by Miranda

It’s been awhile since my last post, so I figured I’d kill some time at work and update with the latest… We (and I DONT mean Ryan & I) have been out dress shopping 3 times so far with more to come– I have 2, maybe 3, in the top running right now. No hints will be given- it’ll be a surprise to everyone. :) I have to say, I was NOT excited about dress shopping- of course, I wasn’t dreading it- but now it is SO much fun! Exhausting, but fun! Carla, my mom, and I also found where we’ll be getting bridesmaid dresses from. Image’s carries designers that have the EXACT pink and orange we’ve been looking for- although we really were not looking for long (see our website for the colors). Things seem to be coming together nicely, so far. I emailed a possible cake lady (she makes wedding cakes on the side), just waiting for a response to find out if she is available. Ryan has been trying to get a hold of Stan Hywet to figure out what the deal is with going there for pics between the ceremony and reception–”Steven” hasn’t called back.  I think that’s all that is new about the wedding right now…

We took Denali to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens on Sunday. They have “Dog Days of Summer” there every Sunday where they let you bring your dog in. Since we are members at Stan Hywet, we got in free. :) Every week some dog group sponsors it. This week it was sponsored by a group that does agility training- I think we’re going to start Nali off in classes pretty soon!! :) She can’t compete or train exclusively until she’s a year old, but they have puppy classes that will get her used to the equipment and the obsticles. We have some pics from around in the gardens… maybe my future hubby will post some pics tonight :) . We also have some from Stan Hywet that haven’t been posted yet either **hint hint**

Should be a pretty busy week, as always. This weekend we’re going to my cousin’s wedding (shout out to Michelle and Teddy)!!! Their colors are orange and green, so I’m excited to see the decor!!! :) Hopefully I don’t trip– I’m in the wedding….teeehheee :)

More Alaska Pics!

As promised, here is the gallery for ATVing in Denali. These albums are also available through our Picasa Web Albums or on our website – and they have commentary there.

And here is the gallery for Rafting in Denali. We still have to take pictures off of Miranda’s camera from kayaking at Icy Strait Point, but we’ll get those up here pretty soon too.

Pictures… finally

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 by Ryan

Alright, so it’s been a while. But, we’ve finally got our Alaska pictures narrowed down from 1,700+ to a couple hundred. Below is a gallery of most of them. I’m going to be putting up 2 more galleries with pics from Rafting and ATVing in Denali National Park. If you would prefer to view the pictures elsewhere (with commentary)… check out our Picasa Web Albums, or the pictures on our website. Enjoy!!

How do you make a duck fart???

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 by Miranda

It’s been a while… internet access is not very plentiful up here. Let’s see… We haven’t posted since Juneau so since then we have been to Skagway, Icy Strait Point (aka Hoonah), and Ketchikan. Right now we’re cruising through the Inside Passage. In Juneau we checked out the shops and had a drink at the Red Dog Salloon where we also learned how to make a “Duck Fart” (ask us when we get back and we’ll tell ya!). Ryan also knocked me down while we were there walking down the street. He says it wasn’t his fault, but it definitely was!!! The next day was in Skagway. We went on a train ride up to the White Pass and crossed into Canada for a few minutes. The views were spectacular, but the swaying of the train kind of put us all to sleep! Very relaxing!! Then we walked around town and tried out a couple of bars – the Skagway Brewing Co and the Red Onion Saloon. The Red Onion was a famous brothel, so we got to meet some whores!! Heehee!! On Tuesday we went to Icy Strait Point, which is also the VERY small town of Hoonah. Ryan and I went  kayaking and saw a bunch of bald eagles. He paddled, I took pics and tried to steer with the rudder… that didn’t work out to well!! We also walked along the beach, skipped rocks, and I picked up two starfish… and poked a couple!! If that wasn’t fun enough, we got all dressed up, Jesus served us dinner and met “Captain Claus from the Bridge”. We hung out with the chief of housekeeping and the Cruise Director as well. In Ketchikan, we walked around and shopped a little bit more :) Then we got on the bus to go to the paddle boat… got off the bus only to find out that paddle boating was cancelled due to high winds. So we got back on the bus andd drove around town for about 20 minutes. But it wasn’t just any bus ride. We managed to run a red light and make a horse-drawn trolley rear. Never a dull moment in Alaska!!! Last night was The Quest where Ryan and my Dad held hands and skipped around the room for one point. My Mom and I ATTEMPTED to do the worm and my Dad strutted his stuff in my Mom’s shoes… we didn’t win, but it was lots of fun!! The Quest was followed by a dance party where we did the electric slide, hokey pokey and the twist. Ryan drank a Duck Fart and my Dad drank more and more Long Island Iced Teas (he should have kept a tally!). This morning Ryan and my Dad went on the Bridge Tour. They said it was very interesting, but they weren’t allowed to touch anything. Shucks!!! Next was a quick breakfast, then we did a Galley Tour. Very interesting to see where all the food comes from. Now we’re just sitting back and relaxing. “Captain Claus from the Bridge” just came on the radio and said that in a couple hours we’ll have a good chance of seeing humpback and killer whales!! Although humpback whale spottings are a common occurence in the evenings. :) It’s a rough life up here!! Welp, more tomorrow from Vancouver!!
